Description

Overview

Experience the breathtaking elegance of Japanese aesthetics in “The Sparkling Hosomi Collection,” a major exhibition hosted at the Kyushu National Museum. This curated selection showcases the pinnacle of Kyoto’s artistic heritage, featuring iconic works from the Rinpa school and the remarkably detailed, imaginative paintings of Ito Jakuchu. The collection, preserved by the Hosomi Museum in Kyoto, is celebrated for its diverse range, spanning from ancient archaeological artifacts to the vibrant decorative arts of the Edo period.

Visitors will be treated to a visual feast of gold-leaf screens, intricate lacquerware, and the legendary ink paintings that define the “sparkling” quality of Kyoto’s art scene. This exhibition highlights the enduring legacy of Rinpa artists like Ogata Korin and the eccentric genius of Jakuchu, whose depictions of nature continue to fascinate modern audiences with their vivid colors and technical precision. It is a rare opportunity to see these cultural treasures gathered in the grand setting of Dazaifu.
